Small Baby???
Over a month between posts - shocking I know. But it has been crazy busy here. We had a full house for most of the month of August. Our good friends Rachel and Steve came to stay, and spent 2 long weekends with us and in between went to Boston. Pretty much as soon as they took off, my friend Sinead arrived for a long weekend with her new boyfriend Andy - so we’ve been very busy indeed.
Anyway, all visitors are safely back in Europe now - which means that we have been able to start preparing things for Baby Beans’ arrival.Â
Just as well, as a routine ultrasound 2 weeks ago showed that the baby was small for his dates….. We were shocked, as my bump (although smaller than with Tris) is far from tiny. My Dr was concerned as Tristan was a big baby, and also because in the early stages of this pregnancy I had some dodgy blood test results that showed something that could be linked to a low functioning placenta - basically meaning that the baby may not be as nourished as he could be. Obviously it was stressful to hear that! My Dr put me on sick leave for the rest of my pregnancy and I have to be closely monitored. If the little guy is not growing to the Dr’s liking, she’ll take him out early….not something that we want!
He seems to be doing fine, and my bump etc is all spot on for due dates. I am putting weight on - so Dr was happy with that, just said I need to rest more. I had a lot of work to do to be able to hand over my accounts etc and finish up at work, but finally as of yesterday (nearly 2 weeks after I was told to finish work) I wrapped up (well pretty much anyway). I am going to try to keep myself out of work as much as possible.  Now I will have to find stuff to fill my days, as although I was lazy as anything when pregnant with Tris, I have been very active with this one…..I plan on spening lots of time on the sofa watching ‘Sex and the City’ and eating almonds (good for baby)…. More tests etc this Friday - so fingers crossed!!!
Apart from that little drama we are all well. We had a great time with Rach and Steve, and even managed to get a weekend away to Tremblant without Tristan. We left him with Mark and Elaine (our good friends and neighbours) and he had a great time with his best bud Jack:
How cute are they!!!??? Jack’s grandpa took them to the Railway museum and they had a great time.
We made the most of our last child free weekend for probably a long time, and stayed in a great hotel, ate lovely food and did some shopping.
This is us at the top of Mont Tremblant (took the bubble up as opposed to mad Steve who ran up the mountain for his morning workout - fool
The views are even more spectacular in the summer than the winter.
Me, Rachel and Steve coming down in the bubble. Check out the not so flat land in the backround - would you want to run up that?
But we have to give Steve big congrats for being promoted to a football league referee. Basically, he refs all but the premiership (for the moment) and is pretty dedicated to his fitness routine. As is Rach who is training for the great north run (also a fool ;-) And they put us to shame with their constant workouts (well put Julien to shame, I’m preggers thus have an excuse for my laziness :-)Â
Last weekend we decided to take Tristan to a local farm - and Jack came along with us. The boys had a great time seeing the animals (although Tris threw a fit going into a barn as he said it was ‘too smelly’….)
People seem to think the boys are brothers - and must have thought we were mad with ‘twins’ and another on the way:
The next few weeks will be spent (all going well) getting the baby’s room finished and everything prepared for his arrival. Luckily we had the sense to have a new guest room made in our basement in May, so we are just finishing to furnish that (in time for Jul’s parents to arrive and help next month, followed by Rachel the new baby’s Godmother who is coming back in November to help for a week - thankfully!).
To finish, here are a couple of cute pics from last week:
Tristan dressed as Spiderman for his friends superhero birthday party.
Tris being lovely and giving his baby brother a kiss….he loves him in the belly - so here’s hoping he’ll be so enthusiastic when he arrives!!!
Hope all is well back home.
Take Care xxxxx
